Fellow Junior Civitans,

This past year's International Convention held in Florida's own Jacksonville was truly an amazing experience for all of those in attendance, especially for the Florida District! We came away with several Awards including 1st place for our District Wide Project, Honor District of Excellence and the most prestigious, 3rd Best District Internationally.

Please give yourselves a hand for all of the work you did throughout the year! This past year wouldn't have been possible if not for all of your hard work and determination!11 of our Clubs earned Honor Club and 3 of our Clubs also earned Honor Club of Distinction! The best part of coming off an excellent year is the excitement of having an even more successful following year. I know that if we all come together and put forth the same effort that we did last year, nothing will stop us from earning 1st place Best District overall, International wide.

Before I lead you into this excellent 2010-2011 year, I feel it is fitting for you to get to know me a little better. I live in Kissimmee, Florida with two excellent parents and 3 other siblings, two of which are in college in Gainesville, Florida. I will be a Senior this year at Bishop Moore Catholic High School, which is the home of the largest club in the Florida District. I am also the club's Co-Vice President. While maintaining a rigorous school schedule, I also hold a job at McDonalds as a crew person. I enjoy playing any sport recreationally and usually will give anything a shot at least once. While many consider me to be a funny person to be around, I also know when it is time to get work done and be serious. Most of all, I am very excited to be your new Governor!

This year will be a great year for the Florida District and I'm very excited to be a part of it! My plans for our district are to increase active clubs, retain old ones and even charter new clubs.  I want to increase all clubs participation in all District wide events and also the International events. As our new motto this year states, we need to "Make Waves" in Junior Civitan and let everyone know the Florida Junior Civitan name.

In January 2011, I have the pleasure of attending the Sno_Do fundraiser located in Canada, on behalf of the entire Florida Junior Civitan District. The beneficiary of this fundraiser is our Civitan International Research Center, an amazing medical research institution focused on understanding and curing mental and physical developmental disabilities and diseases. Your financial support for Sno-Do and our Civitan International Research Center is immensely appreciated!

Words cannot express how excited I am to lead the Fabulous Florida District into this very prosperous year. I cannot wait to meet all of you and get to know everyone a little bit better. If you ever need anything, whether it be with advice, suggestions, questions, or even just to say hello, please don't hesitate to contact me!

WE ARE FLORIDA!  WHO-HA!

Yours In Civitan,
Zachary Rivera
