St. Petersburg Junior Civitan garden. Notice the Civitan logo on the wall as constant promotion. This Club is one of the oldest Junior Civitan Clubs, established in 1953. Every high school JuniorCivitan Club could likely have agarden to help our environment and beautify schools. This garden is the pride and joy of St. Pete Junior Civitan. In the center is a waterfall. Plans to expand the garden are being discussed. Community Clubs might consider a garden at a Seniors Home with a Junior Civitan sign on display. St. Petersburg Junior Civitan have earned Honor Club as a result of their many projects: raising money for the Haiti Relief fund, money for Relay for Life, helping with the Special Olympics, collecting shoes for recycling, painting toys for needy Children at Christmas and helping their sponsoring St. Petersburg Civitan Club with a huge garage sale at everyones favorite location, the St. Pete Civitan Beach House. All Florida Junior Civitans and Civitans are invited to the Beach House July 17th for a Fun Day. Workshops in the morning with alternating projects and beach enjoyment in the afternoon. More Scholarships for JuniorCivitans! Fletcher Junior Civitan Vice President and founding member, Amanda Othmer, received the Henry Cook Community Service Scholarship from Fletcher's sponsoring Civitan Club, Florida's First Coast Civitan Club. Amanda dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian for years until she started volunteering with special needs children and is now considering a career in Education. Fletcher Junior Civitan Club has had a busy year and earned Honor Club for all their great community service projects; preparing and serving an intergenerational dinner at Pablo Towers, created art supply bags for children at Hubbard House, raised funds for Haiti Earthquake Relief and Relay for Life. Amanda's winning essay showed how Junior Civitan helped to develop her leadership skills while helping in the community.

These smiling faces are a result of just learning that Florida Civitans approved and supported the Junior Civitans joint bid to bring the International Convention to Jacksonville, Florida in June 2010. Civitans and Junior Civitans successfully worked together to win the International Convention for Florida.
Lt Governor of Orlando, Zachary Rivera and the Bishop Moore Junior Civitan Club launched the "Be a NO PHONE Driver - Phocus on the Road" campaign to save lives by doing a video (posted on You Tube) and collecting pledge signatures of teachers and fellow students. They also purchased pens with the campaign printed on the pens and gave each who pledged to be a NO PHONE Driver a pen. Great results Bishop Moore Catholic High School Junior Civitan Club! Zachary is the incoming Governor of the Florida District.
St. Petersburg Civitans and Junior Civitans worked together at everyones favorite location, The St. Pete Civitan Beach House, right on the Gulf of Mexico. When Civitans set a date for a yard sale they asked their energetic Junior Civitan members to be the advertising campaign. Proceeds help challenged Children. Civitans joined their Juniors at the Beach House to install new Junior members last fall and for the Fun Day for all Florida Juniors and Civitans Dec 5. The Christmas Parade is a joint event both Clubs look forward to every year. St. Pete Civitans sponsor their Juniors for the Relay for Life event. St. Pete Junior Civitans have an awesome Civitan Garden and fountain at their school, currently being expanded to include herbs. Anxious to help earthquake victims, the St. Pete H.S. Junior Civitans collected $1,000 for Haiti Relief Fund Aid.
North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club raised $500 at their first car wash April 17th by preselling the $5 tickets and washing 2 cars at a time a good part of the day. Their Advisor, April Oberle (red had on the other side of the station wagon) made sure these Juniors gave out over 1,000 1/4 page flyers in advance, full page posters were put up in stores/libraries, 10 signs were visible from the street and all media were contacted. The Clearwater Gazette weekly paper sent out their photographer to capture the event. The advantage of preselling tickets is that most do not come, they buy the ticket to support the work of Junior Civitan in the community. Club info was given out at the car wash. As a result, one parent gave a $20 tip and wants her teen son in Junior Civitan to "also help with all the wonderful community service projects of the North Pinellas Junior Civitan". In addition to monies from a corporate sponsor, car wash monies will help get more members to the International Junior Civitan Convention and this new club is EXCITED!!! They have earned Honor Club of Distinction.
LETO H.S. JUNIOR CIVITAN CHARTER event March 24, 2010. We welcome our newest Junior Civitan Club and members. This Club started doing service projects in November while they recruited new members and because they completed all their Activity Reports they have very likely earned Honor Club status already. They collected 100 blankets for the homeless and helped challenged citizens.They joined North Pinellas Junior Civitans at the St. Pete Beach House Dec 5th and again at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital on December 22nd to help children in hospital make Christmas Gifts for their family members. They work very closely with their sponsoring Club, Tampa Metro and have the full support of their school Principal, thanks to their Advisor. Way to go Leto and welcome to Junior Civitan! Leto H.S. Junior Civitan Club has now earned Honor Club!
Golden Gate H.S. Junior Civitan Club hosted a party and food collection in November to help students at Golden Gate High celebrate Thanksgiving. This Club works very closely with their sponsoring Civitan Club, Neapolitan, completing community service projects. Golden Gate has earned Honor Club. President Rosana Sandoval will be presented with the banner patch at the Junior Civitan International Convention, June 24-27 in Jacksonville FL. where everyone will attend Workshops teaching leadership skills.
Naples Junior Civitan joined their sponsoring Civitan Club, Neopolitan at the annual Valentine's Day dinner and dance for the clients of the Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled on February 5th. Full of enthusiasm, dedication, energy, this group of Juniors did an excellent job. Working together these Junior Civitans and Civitans provided a memorable event including the entertainment. Their Advisor/Teacher is Miss Monica, 2nd on the left back row. The new Lt. Governor for Naples, Esslyn Alvarado, is pictured 1st on the left. Naples H.S. Junior Civitan Club has earned Honor Club. Their Advisor, Miss Monica and six members will attend the Junior Civitan International Convention in Jacksonville FL, June 24-27.
Bishop Moore Junior Civitan Club in Orlando raised $11,500 for community projects by obtaining sponsorship for a Bowl-A-Thon. 160 of their members participated, having great fun knowing how much good they will be able to do in their community. Kudos to Bishop Moore Catholic High School Junior Civitan Club. Bishop Moore Junior Civitan Club has now earned Honor Club.
Homestead Junior Civitan Club, a community based club, held a Banquet to install over 10 new members on January 11, 2010. October 24th, 2009 they held their 1st Annual Halloween Benefit Party with the proceeds to Farm Share, an organization which helps feed the homeless. Homestead Junior Civitan Club has now earned Honor Club.
Bishop Moore Junior Civitan Club joined with the University of Central Florida for a very beneficial ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT to work on an oyster reef restoration program. Over 50 Junior Civitans and three Civitans from their sponsoring Frontier Civitan Club worked on attaching oyster shells to plastic mats. These mats are then attached together and subsequently taken out to the ocean floor to create a new oyster reef. Environmental projects are dear to the hearts of all Junior Civitans as they volunteer in their community to help "MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE". This not just a line in their Creed, Junior Civitans are dedicated to demonstrating their commitment every day.
North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club hosted a Fun Day at the Beach House for all Junior Civitan Clubs and Civitan Clubs: 4 Bay area Junior Civitan Clubs and 5 Civitan Clubs attended. In the corner are over 80 teddy bears they collected for needy children at Christmas. The morning was filled with workshops. In the afternoon Juniors painted over 200 gifts for needy children, made 300 "secret Santa cards" did a beach clean up and played sports on the beach. In attendance with North Pinellas Junior Civitan Clubs were Junior Civitan members from Middleton H.S., St. Petersburg H.S. and the newly forming Leto H.S. Junior Civitan Club.
Works of art by Bay area Junior Civitan Clubs: North Pinellas, St. Pete, Leto H.S. and Middleton H.S. brought smiles to over 200 needy children Christmas morning. The newly formed North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club raised all the money to pay for the gifts and paints and invited all Junior Civitan Clubs and Civitan Clubs to join in the fun. Plans are underway to repeat this great event in summer 2010.

North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club raised money to provide gifts children at St. Joseph's Children Hospital could decorate for their parents, grandparents & siblings for Christmas. North Pinellas invited all Bay area Junior Civitans to help the children in hospital; St. Pete Juniors and new forming Lete H.S. Juniors joined them. Long term patients cannot get out to shop so being able to make a cup, picture frame, car, ID wallet and suncatchers for their family brought smiles to each childs face. Juniors even wrapped the gifts for each patient and prepared craft kits for children who were too ill to join in the fun in the big lobby at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club volunteers at Glen Oaks Seniors Home. Some residents are physically challenged and some mentally challenged but most can really play balloon volleyball. And they play to win. The score: Glen Oaks 2 games, North Pinellas Junior Civitans 1 game. Rematch in January.
April 2009 Miami Jackson Sr. High School Junior Civitan Club held their Charter ceremony. Some members are in the band which performed for everyone. Miami Springs-Hialeah Civitan Club is their sponsoring Civitan Club. Founding President is Tirawan Dixon. This energetic club keeps their Advisor, Miss Debra, busy with all the great community service projects they do!
Officers of the Fort Pierce Central Junior Civitan Club gathered to join in the Webinar Club Officer Training and a planning meeting. This club is having a wonderful year using the Honor Club application as their planning tool. We will hear more from this great club! This Club has earned Honor Club of Distinction. They had so much fun at the District Convention in March that they are attending the Junior Civitan International Convention in Jacksonville June 24-27. Everyone is so excited they are attending because "Fort Pierce Junior Civitans are so much fun".
The newest club, the North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club, a community based club, were so good the city of Clearwater asked them to pitch in and run a second Coca-Cola wagon. These Juniors will be visiting Glen Oaks Retirement Home to spend time with seniors, caring for animals at the Suncoast Animal League, making Christmas gifts for needy children and helping long term patients at the Childrens' Hospital to make Christmas gifts for their family members. Children in hospital at Christmas cannot go shopping so the North Pinellas Junior Civitans will bring shopping to the hospital. They are also collecting teddy bears for children in hospital and to give to needy children at Christmas.
And the crowds came, for 8 hours solid, to both Coca-Cola wagons on the hottest October day ever. The club raised $400 that day. Ice in the coolers came in handy for the North Pinellas Junior Civitan to cool each other off. A few mischievous members (we won't mention names) A fun day fundraising. They just launched a big fundraising event, the 1st Annual Duck Race (yellow rubber ducks), to take place Feb 27 at the the St. Pete Civitan Beach House. Proceeds to the Civitan International Research Centre, medical equipment for the Free Medical Clinic, attendance to "teen leadership training" at both District and International conventions and Suncoast Animal Hospital. Their sponsoring Civitan Club, Clearwater Civitan, helped at this fundraising event.
Fletcher Junior Civitan started club year 2009-10 with a service project for children at Hubbard House. Juniors collected enough art supplies to fill 54 shopping bags. The bags were decorated with hand drawn iron-on labels then filled with supplies like crayons, coloring books, water paints, pencils and paper. Hubbard House is a safe house for mothers and their children who need to escape abusive or unsafe situations, leaving behind most of their clothing and favorite toys. This Club has earned Honor Club.
Some members of the North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club started their orientation and training at the Suncoast Animal League. Other members attended orientation and training at Glen Oaks Health Care for seniors, some of whom are physically or mentally challenged. Both service projects are imporant to these Juniors and will be long term. Volunteers are needed at the shelter, at events and at the Pet store to help find new homes for the dogs and cats. Junior Civitan Shayna Schwolsky and her family are regular volunteers at the Suncoast Animal League now, joined by other North Pinellas Junior Civitans dedicated to the well being of animals.

This Club has double the number of Club Officers and works closely with their sponsoring Civitan Club, the Frontier Civitan Club. They are very busy doing community service projects, environmental projects and fundraising projects.
From January 29 - February 2, 2010 Governor Matthew Pendleton went to the great white north to represent the Florida District in the 35th annual Sno-Do event in Barrie, Ontario Canada. Matthew says "Thank you to everyone who donated to the Civitan International Research Center for this event. Representing the Florida District was one of the BEST experiences of my life and I will ALWAYS remember it." Our medical Research Center disseminates the findings to the medical community around the world. We, Junior Civitans, are making a difference around the world. Dance-A-Thon is another major fundraising event of Junior Civitan, for the Civitan International Research Center. Matthew says "As Florida Junior Civitan Governor I was honored to represent Florida this year in Chateauguay/Montreal Quebec, Canada. Our medical Research Center disseminates the medical findings to the medical community around the world. We, Junior Civitans, are making a difference around the world."
Junior Civitan International Director Kristin Cornwell had a lot of fun at the Florida District Convention in Orlando March 19 to 21st, 2010. (Convention photos' under District Convention). After the convention finished on Sunday, Florida Junior Civitan Governor Matthew Pendelton (left) and incoming Governor Zachary Rivera took Kristin to Disney World's Magic Kingdom before her flight left in the evening for her return to Nashville Tennessee. When the rain stopped all had a great time, especially Kristin who had not been there since she was very little. The "small kid" came out in her when she met Pluto.
