Naples Valentine's Day Dinner Dance: In the words of Neapolitan Civitan Nery Kircher,  "Again, the Naples HS Junior Civitans did a wonderful job.  We had the 30 members there who helped first by decorating the hall, then distributing the dinner to about 225 people.  They also did the after dinner entertainment portion of the evening as the "Eaglelettes Dancers" and helped during the dance contest.  Our Junior Civitans also came up with the idea of taking pictures of these developmentally challenged adults, putting these pictures in beautiful valentine's frames which they donated and giving them as a memorable gift in celebration of this special day.  What a beautiful gesture!  At the end, they helped to clean up the hall. It's a blessing we have these Junior Civitans helping us at this event!"   Great teamwork and a wonderful example of Junior Civitans working with Civitans to make a difference in the community.

LAKE HOWELL H.S. JUNIOR CIVITAN CLUB team in action. This terrific Club of 94 members is very busy helping in the community: National Honor Society Reception, Kids House Easter Party, Car Wash, Silver Scholars Reception, End of the Year Pool Party, Sod Laying Fundraiser, International Convention, Car Wash, Recruiting new Members, Installation of Officers and New Members, Breast Cancer Walk, Habitat for Humanity Haunted House,  LHHS Community Celebration Face Painting, Light the Night Walk, Harvest Time International,  Special Olympics Bowling, Officers Training, Kids House Christmas Party, Mail for Heroes, Car Wash, Autism Walk, Christmas in the City, Trick or Treat for Unicef, Walk to Raise Suicide Awareness

LAKE HOWELL H.S. JUNIOR CIVITAN members enjoy doing a lot of face painting to bring smiles to children and everyone around them. These teens regularly visit and entertain abused children in protective care. They also did face painting at the Lake Howell H.S. community event, practicing on each other too. Then there is the Habitat for Humanity Haunted House..... yet another reason to get those faces painted.

LAKE HOWELL H.S. JUNIOR CIVITAN CLUB in action, working as a team they accomplish much while having fun!

LAKE HOWELL H.S. JUNIOR CIVITAN CLUB, a tired but happy team because they know they made a difference in their community at not one but three Walks:
Light the Night walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Societies
Breast Cancer Walk
Walk to raise awareness about suicide

LAKE HOWELL H.S. JUNIOR CIVITAN volunteered at the Habit for Humanity Haunted House, getting into character for the fun. Another opportunity for face painting for this club of 94 members !

Junior Civitan Garden at St. Petersburg High School, cared for by the Junior Civitan Club and enjoyed by everyone. St. Pete Junior Civitans challenge you to start a garden at your school or in your community; flowers or vegetables. The Civitan signs on the wall are constant advertising 24/7. The St. Pete Junior Civitan Club is well known in this large school.

Junior Civitan International President, Matthew Pendleton, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Mrs. Delares Barr-Weaver, Owner of the Southpoint Jaguars Football Club for her kind donation allowing Florida Junior Civitans to attend leadership training at the International Convention in Jacksonville, June 2010. Florida Junior Civitans appreciate her generosity and gratefully send Mrs. Barr-Weaver their sincere thanks.

Sandalwood High School Junior Civitan Club members, Fletcher High School Junior Civitan Club members and members from their sponsoring Civitan Clubs were guests of Mrs. Barr-Weaver at a Southpoint Jaguars football game. Fun was had by all.

FLETCHER JUNIOR CIVITANS received a proclamation from the Mayor of the City of Neptune Beach, declaring the month of October as Junior Civitan Awareness month. The Mayor announced the proclamation at the city meeting (with media in attendance).

Each year the Sandalwood High School Junior Civitan Club joins their sponsors, the Uptown Civitan Club for the annual Light the Night event to raise money for cancer research and treatment. The strength of any Junior Civitan Club is based on the guidance of their Advisor (school sponsor) and a strong bond with their sponsoring Civitan Club. Sandalwood Junior Civitans are very fortunate to have guidance and assistance from both.

Junior Civitans of St. Petersburg High School joined their sponsoring Civitan Club in the annual Santa Claus parade, carrying the banner and handing out candy to children anxiously waiting for Santa while Civitans gave out information about the newly renovated St. Pete Beach House on the Gulf of Mexico. Antique cars are the annual attraction for adults: a Bentley, Corvette, Mustang, Cadillac. Our CiviTot enjoys all the attention! Daughter of Advisor Kathryn Malatino, our CiviTot attends every Junior Civitan event.

While each antique car in the St. Pete Santa Parade had a Civitan sign, the antique Mustang owner proudly displayed the Junior Civitan banner on his car.

St. Petersburg H.S. Junior Civitan Club, the 4th oldest International Club, is off to a fast start. August 28th Juniors joined their sponsoring Club, St. Pete Civitan for the annual Fish-A-Thon. Open to the public volunteers were on hand to help bait the hooks and haul in all those big catches. Notice our Civi-Tot with a Civitan shirt of her own (daughter of Advisor, Ms Kathryn). Our Civi-Tot caught 3 fish. Her smiles and warm Junior Civitan personality are contagious as she just rolls with whatever Ms. Kathryn and her Junior Civitan friends are doing.

St. Petersburg H.S. Junior Civitans once again joined their sponsoring Club, St. Pete Civitans, for yet another worthy community service project. September 25 was Special Olympics Bowling for hundreds of keen bowlers. A special thanks to St. Pete Juniors and Civitans was announced during opening ceremonies. 60 bowling lanes were filled with teams, all eager to win awards. A volunteer is needed for each lane for the morning shift then again for the afternoon shift. Civitans and Junior Civitans saved the day and enjoyed applauding participants for every ball bowled, giving high 5's and presenting a ribbon award to every bowler.

St. Petersburg Civitan Club sends special thanks to the St. Petersburg H.S. Junior Civitan Club for helping with renovations and cleaning of the St. Pete Beach House during July, August and September. The Beach House is now rented for weddings, socials and corporate events (monies will be used to help in the community) but use is free to non profit organizations Sunday to Thursday. St. Pete Junior Civitans do not rest during the summer as they make community service their year round passion, led by Ms. Kathryn and our Civi-Tot. Way to go St. Pete H.S. Junior Civitans!!!

Fletcher Junior Civitan Club is celebrating WORLD JUNIOR CIVITAN DAY in a big way. They asked the Mayor of the City of Neptune Beach to designate October as Junior Civitan Awareness month. Pictured on the left are Club Officers displaying the official PROCLAMATION they received during a City municipal meeting. (When a City Mayor makes a Proclamation the media are advised and it is announced in the City meetings). Great work Fletcher!

L to R:  Drew Hope, Vice President; Kaydee Gavron, President; Katie Hope, Public Relations.

In celebration of World Junior Civitan Day, Fletcher Junior Civitan Club is also going to host a picnic at the ARC of St. Johns Beaches Extension on October 23rd.  This charitable agency serves clients with autism, down syndrome, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities and others.  This will be the first picnic hosted by the Junior Civitans and with the weather so fabulous every one is looking forward to a great day of fun.

July 17th Florida District Junior Civitan held workshops at the St. Pete Beach House -our favorite location. Junior Civitan Governor Zachary Rivera of Bishop Moore Catholic H.S. Junior Civitan Club welcomed 35 Junior Civitans from Sandalwood in Jacksonville, Bishop Moore in Orlando, Plant City H.S. Civinettes, North Pinellas in Clearwater and St. Petersburg as well as 12 Civitans from Uptown in Jacksonville, Frontier in Orlando, Clearwater, Tampa Metro and St. Petersburg Civitan Clubs. Topics included: Writing That Winning Award, The Master Plan - planning the work and working the plan for a successful year of community service, fundraising, social awareness campaigns and environmental projects, Tricks to Overcome the fear of Public Speaking, Life After Junior Civitan - Joining Campus Club and a Civitan Club, The Power of Your Honor Club application - keeping score to motivate members all year long and an overview of recent findings, treatment and the increase in Autism. Junior Civitan International President, Matthew Pendleton, from Sandalwood H.S. Junior Civitan Club, gave everyone an update on the Civitan International (medical) Research Center. Busy bees decorated before workshops began, to help set the stage for celebration of all the Florida wins at the Junior Civitan International Convention Awards & Installation Banquet June 26th in Jacksonville FL.

Lt. Governor of Tampa Bay/St. Pete, Nate Collard, gave a lively presentation to help Junior Civitans and Civitan members learn how to overcome the normal fears of Public Speaking.

Notice the back of the Florida District t-shirts worn by Sandalwood Junior Civitans (left side of photo): "Be a NO PHONE Driver - Phocus on the Road" campaign to save lives. This campaign will continue through 2010-2011.

It would not be an event at the St. Pete Beach House or an event involving the St. Pete Junior Civitan Club if our very own CiviTot were not in attendance, smiling for the camera along with her Mom, St. Pete Junior Civitan Advisor Miss Kathryn. It really is time for us to get a Junior Civitan t-shirt for our CiviTot.

At each District event there is a community service project. At the St. Pete Beach House July 17th Junior Civitans collected school supplies for needy Children. Before enjoying games and the Gulf of Mexico beach in the afternoon,  Junior Civitans and Civitans made motivational cards and bookmarks for needy Children, get well cards for Children in hospital, thank you cards for overseas US Armed Forces, fire fighters and police...thanking them for risking their lives to keep us all safe. Junior Civitans from Jacksonville, Orlando, Plant City, Clearwater and St. Petersburg attended, joined by Civitans from Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater and St. Pete.
