Welcome to the website of the Florida District Junior Civitans. Check out our "News" page for recent Florida Junior Civitan news and information! Junior Civitan is a community service organization for middle and high school students tailored specifically for training them to become "Builders of Good Citizenship" in the home, school, community, and nation. Its purpose is to develop initiative and leadership and to encourage youth to live a fuller life enriched by selfless service to others and focus on daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships by precept and example. Junior Civitan consists of 12,000 teen members, in 400 clubs, in the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia and Africa. At the 2010 Junior Civitan International Convention, held in Jacksonville, FL, the Florida District won 1st place for Outstanding District-Wide Project and 3rd place as Outstanding District of the Year. We are really looking forward to having a great year in Junior Civitan! Governor Zachary Rivera and District Chair Debbie White will work closely together along with other members of the District Board and Florida clubs to continue to strengthen the Florida District by increasing membership and raising public awareness of our organization. Florida Junior Civitan Governor, Zachary Rivera, represented Florida Junior Civitan members at the annual fund raising event held in Canada for the Civitan International (medical) Research Center at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After working very hard to raise funds for medical research, Zachary earned the right to attend Sno-Do in Barrie, ON, Canada, driving a snow mobile and visiting Niagara Falls. Zachary secured donations from businesses, individuals and Civitans, earning the Round Tuit Award for the most donations outside of Civitan. Zachary has just been accepted for Pre-Med at universities in Florida. Many Congratulations Zachary. You are a true leader and excellent mentor to younger Junior Civitans. We are all behind you as you seek to found a Campus Club at university! Zachary is pictured with a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
